Congress Venue
Given its central position in Europe, Geneva is well connected to the outside world, whether by train, plane or car. Flight information can be found on the Geneva airport website ( www.gva.ch) and train schedules and ticketing information can be found at www.cff.ch. Road itineraries can be obtained from www.viamichelin.ch.
The 2008 World Cancer Congress will take place in the Geneva Palexpo Convention Centre, located a few minutes away from Geneva International Airport and 15 minutes from the city Center.

Continuing medical education (CME) points
The 2008 World Cancer Congress will offer up to 21 CME points for delegates. For US delegates, these points are validated through the PRA. The CME points for Italian delegates and the Nursing Education Credits will be confirmed shortly. Attendance certificates will be available for delegates to pick up from Saturday 30 August onwards.

Abstract CD-ROM
UICC is offering an abstract compilation on CD-ROM. The CD-ROM will be distributed free of charge as long as stocks last

In addition to a CD-ROM abstract book, delegates have the option to select abstracts of interest to them and thus develop a customized itinerary for the Congress as well as their personal, customized abstract book.

Badges
Badges must be worn at all time during the Congress, including the social activities.

Exhibition
As part of the 2008 World Cancer Congress, an exhibition space has been provided on the 1st floor in Hall 1 for industry and cancer organizations to showcase their products and services. Please click here for an up-to-date list of exhibitors.
This area will also host Congress registration, a CyberCentre, the welcome reception on 27 August, the poster sessions, and lunches and coffee breaks.

Insurance
The organizer does not accept responsibility for individual medical, travel or personal insurance. Participants are strongly advised to take out their own arrangements in respect of health and travel insurance.

Internet access
Internet access will be available within the exhibition area during opening times at the Cyber Centre. WIFI connection will also be provided, enabling participants to use their own laptops.

Liability
Unexpected cancellation of the event: UICC reserves the right to cancel the World Cancer Congress without notice or compensation due to circumstances outside its control, including (but not limited to) acts of God, civil commotion, strike, work to rule or go slow, lock-outs, hostilities, fire, flood, drought or inability to procure materials, venues or services except at increased prices due to any of the foregoing causes. In the event of force majeure, UICC is freed of all responsibility.
Limitation of UICC liability: Should it become impossible for UICC to hold the World Cancer Congress, so long as this is due to force majeure and not to any cause attributable to UICC, UICC shall only be obliged to reimburse the payments received subject to deduction of any costs it has incurred in preparing the event.

Official language
The official language of the Congress is English. All abstracts and presentations must be in English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

Photography
Photography is not permitted during the Congress. An official photographer will be working for UICC and pictures will be made available on the congress website after the event.

Poster Session
Poster sessions will allow authors of accepted abstracts to communicate their projects and findings to a worldwide audience. These sessions will take place during the lunch breaks in the Exhibit Hall.

Rules
Smoking Policy
The Congress and the exhibition are strictly enforced NON-SMOKING events. This includes the set-up and dismantling periods.

Mobile Phones
Delegates are kindly requested to keep their mobile phones off the rooms where scientific and educational sessions are being held, as well as during poster sessions.
|
Visa
Participants requiring a visa for entry to Switzerland are strongly advised to make their application in their home country at least three months before the intended date of travel.
Should you need a letter of invitation to obtain an entry visa for Switzerland, the UICC secretariat will be pleased to send you the requested document after having received payment of your registration fee.
Please be informed that for some countries a visa/passport for France is required for certain optional excursions. A number of local excursions include a trip to France.
