Abstract CD-ROM
|
UICC is offering an abstract compilation on CD-ROM with the help of an educational
grant from Roche. The CD-ROM is available free of charge in your congress
bag.
|
|
In addition to the CD-ROM, delegates have the option to select abstracts
of interest to them and thus develop a tailored itinerary for the congress
as well as their personal, customized abstract book. This service is available
at the Cybercenter on stand n°1035.
|
|
Badges
Badges must be worn at all times during the congress, including the social activities. Your delegate badge
will give you access to the scientific sessions as well as the exhibition. Accompanying persons and exhibitors
may visit the exhibition but do not have access to lecture halls.
Should you lose your badge, CHF 30.- will be charged for a replacement. If you are entitled to a free registration,
the same fee of CHF 30.- will be charged.

Cloakroom
A supervised cloakroom is available on the ground floor of the Convention Centre, where items can be
left for a daily fee of CHF 3 per piece. Please note that luggage can be deposited, but cannot be left
overnight. The cloakroom is open from Wednesday to Sunday. This service is provided directly by the
Convention Centre and UICC may not be held liable in case of loss, theft or damage to your belongings.

Congress Venue
The World Cancer Congress takes place in the Geneva Palexpo Convention Centre, located a few minutes
away from Geneva International Airport and 15 minutes from the city centre.

Palexpo is in easy reach of the city centre by bus (n°5) or by taxi. The airport is only a 10 minute walk
and with regional and international flights, a train station and a shopping centre open 7 days a week.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) points
The World Cancer Congress will offer up to 21 CME points for delegates. For US delegates, these points
are validated through the PRA. In addition, Italian physicians are eligible for ECM points, and nurses for
ICN credits. Attendance certificates will be available for delegates to pick up as of Friday.

For all information concerning excursions please check with the Symporg desk, which is located at the
information booth on the ground floor in the entrance hall.

Final programme
A copy of the final programme is provided free of charge to each delegate in the congress bag. Additional copies can be purchased for €5 or CHF 8 at the on-site registration counter in the registration
area.

Food & drink
Lunch boxes will be distributed in the exhibition area on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 12:00. Please
note that lunch boxes may not be taken into the lecture rooms and should be disposed of in the appropriate waste areas. During morning and afternoon breaks (10:00-10:30 and 16:30-17:00) tea or coffee
can be purchased at the specified points in the exhibition area.
A user-pay restaurant, “La Brasserie”, located on the ground floor is also at the disposal of participants,
but is run independently of the World Cancer Congress.

Hotel information
For any questions about accommodation, please contact the Symporg desk which is located at the information booth in the entrance hall (ground floor). The Geneva tourist board is also located in this area.

Insurance
The organizer does not accept responsibility for individual medical, travel or personal insurance. Participants are strongly advised to make their own arrangements for health and travel insurance.

Internet access - Cybercentre
|
Internet access is available within the exhibition area during opening times and is
jointly serviced by the Global Cancer Control Community and GLOBALink. This area
also offers printing facilities for your customized intinerary and abstract book. This
service is available through an educational grant from Roche.
|
|
WIFI connection will also be provided by UICC, enabling participants to use their
own laptops throughout the Convention Centre.
|
|
Liability
Unexpected cancellation of the event: UICC reserves the right to cancel the World Cancer Congress
without notice or compensation due to circumstances outside its control, including (but not limited to)
acts of God, civil commotion, strike, work to rule or go slow, lock-outs, hostilities, fire, flood, drought or
inability to procure materials, venues or services except at increased prices due to any of the foregoing
causes. In the event of force majeure, UICC is free of all responsibility.
Limitation of UICC liability: Should it become impossible for UICC to hold the World Cancer Congress,
so long as this is due to force majeure and not to any cause attributable to UICC, UICC shall only be
obliged to reimburse the payments received, subject to deduction of any costs it has incurred in prepar-
ing the event.

Lost badges
Should you lose your badge, CHF 30.- will be charged for a replacement that can be arranged at the on-
site registration counter. If you are entitled to a free registration, the same fee of CHF 30.- will be charged.

Any misplaced items can be brought to the general information point located in the lobby of the con-
ference centre. Please enquire here for any lost belongings.

Official language & translation
The official language of the Congress is English. All abstracts and presentations must be in English.
All plenary sessions as well as selected tobacco tracks will be translated into French. Please refer to the final programme for full details.

Parking
Delegates arriving by car can use the Convention Centre car park at a cost of CHF 1.50 per hour, with a
maximum of CHF 15 for the whole day. Parking fees can be paid in Swiss Francs or Euros or by credit card.

Photography
Photography is not permitted during the Congress. An official photographer will be working for UICC and pictures will be made available on the congress website after the event.
|
Poster Session
|
Poster sessions allow authors of accepted abstracts to communicate their proj-
ects and findings to a worldwide audience. These sessions take place during the
lunch and coffee breaks in the Exhibition Hall. These sessions are made possi-
ble through an educational grant from Pfizer.
|
Posters should be set up in the poster area between 07:30 and 08:15 and removed between 18:30 and
19:00. The presenter should be present throughout the discussion periods (10:00–10:30; lunch break;
and 16:30–17:00).
Posters scheduled in poster session “A” will be presented on Thursday, those in poster session “B” on
Friday, and those in poster session “C” on Saturday.

Rules
Smoking Policy
The World Cancer Congress is a non-smoking event. It is therefore forbidden to smoke in the
lecture rooms, exhibition and the corridors of the conference centre. This policy also includes
the set-up and dismantling periods, and will be strictly enforced.
Geneva has a smoke-free public policy since 1 July 2008.

Mobile Phones
Delegates are kindly requested to keep their mobile phones off the rooms where scientific and educational sessions are being held, as well as during poster sessions.
|
Visa
Participants requiring a visa for entry to Switzerland are strongly advised to make their application in their home country at least three months before the intended date of travel.
Should you need a letter of invitation to obtain an entry visa for Switzerland, the UICC secretariat will be pleased to send you the requested document after having received payment of your registration fee.
Please be informed that for some countries a visa/passport for France is required for certain optional excursions. A number of local excursions include a trip to France.
