Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony will be held in the main conference
room on 27 August from 17:30-18:30 in the presence of the
President of the Swiss Confederation and Prof Franco Cavalli,
President of UICC. This event will be followed by the official
Welcome Reception in the exhibition hall from 18:30-19:30
when officials and participants will first visit the exhibition.
Lake Geneva Cruise
On Friday, 29 August, UICC is organising a boat cruise to
allow participants to relax for an evening of music and
networking while wining dining on Europe’s largest
lake. Tickets can be purchased when making your hotel reservation
or on site during the Congress. The cruise will be confirmed
as soon as a sufficient number of delegates have confirmed
their participation.
Reel Lives: Cancer Chronicles Film Festival

UICC is also proud to be working with sponsor GlaxoSmithKline
to bring you the inaugural Reel Lives: Cancer Chronicles
Film Festival at the 2008World Cancer Congress. This international
film festival will raise awareness of the impact of cancer
from a global health perspective. Professional, amateur,
and student filmmakers will be invited to submit films that
are thoughtprovoking, educational, inspirational, and honour
those who have experienced cancer.
Closing Ceremony
The Closing Ceremony will take place in the main conference
room on Sunday, 31 August from 12:15 to 13:30 with presentations
by Dr David Hill, President- Elect of UICC as well as Dr
Xi-Shan Hao, UICC Board member from Beijing, China site
of the 2010 UICC World Cancer Congress.
