ALIAM & the French League against cancer hosted the 2016 World Cancer Congress held in Paris from 31 October - 3 November.

Dear Congress Participants and Friends,

The French League against cancer and the Alliance of African & Mediterranean French Speaking Leagues Against Cancer (ALIAM) were delighted to host the 2016 World Cancer Congress which has taken place from the 1st to the 3rd November 2016 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris.

This was the latest in a long and distinguished line of such international conferences to be held in great cities, and we were glad to welcome more than 3,000 global cancer and health experts in the City of Lights. Paris is steeped in political, artistic, scientific and medical history, and as such is the most visited city in the world.

Building on the impressive success of the 2014 Congress in Melbourne and its 120 sessions, 350 speakers, 48 exhibitors and 2,1 billion of opportunities to see, hear and read about the event, our goal was to place the Paris Congress at the forefront of discovery, innovation and development of knowledge for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

We have worked with UICC and the Local Host Committee (LHC), including various French, European and African bodies involved in the control of cancer, to further strengthen the global cancer community ability to connect, exchange new ideas and strategies for implementing cancer science, and of course to promote equity in access to cancer care in lower-middle income countries.

The LHC and the Programme Committee were fully committed to design a stimulating and attractive programme over the three days, complemented by a special French touch.

We hope you enjoyed an engaging, personal and surprising experience in Paris!
