With an area larger than the UK’s and a population smaller than Singapore’s, the strategically located Sultanate of Oman is unique in a number of ways; an oasis of stability in close proximity to long-standing geopolitical flashpoints, a paragon of neutrality, and a byword for tolerance in a polarized global religious family, it has managed to navigate some of the world’s most complex diplomatic rift lines with astounding dexterity. Oman is also counted among the world’s top 25 oil producing nations, with a daily production of just under one million barrels per day, and as an important producer of natural gas. The World Bank Group ranked Oman the 10th best country to invest in 2018.

In terms of strategic location, it controls the southern reaches of the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint it shares with Iran and through which some 35% of the world’s seaborne oil passes. Facing the Indian Ocean and abutting the world’s largest oil-producing region, Oman sits astride trade routes, diplomatic corridors and a set of fast-upcoming global economic, financial, trading and cosmopolitan hubs.

The Congress will be held in the state-of-the-art Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC). It is located in its own fully integrated precinct only four kilometres from Muscat International Airport. Architecturally advanced in design and capability, this world class venue will be amongst the first to be built to meet the rigorous LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
