Health & Safety

Washing hands

Overview

The health and safety of all attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and staff at the World Cancer Congress 2024 is our top priority. We are committed to creating a secure and welcoming environment for everyone participating in the event.

The International Conference Center Geneva (CICG) is certified by the "Clean and Safe" label. The ''Clean & Safe'' campaign is supported by Switzerland Tourism. Service suppliers are responsible for ensuring that the safety protocols are implemented and complied with.
Cantonal regulations must also be taken into account in the protection concepts and measures.

Below, you will find detailed information on the health and safety measures we will implement, along with guidance to ensure that everyone has a safe and productive experience.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

Given the ongoing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be adhering to the latest guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO), Swiss health authorities, and the local Geneva regulations. Our COVID-19 safety measures include:

  • Get vaccinated as soon as it’s your turn and follow local guidance on vaccination.
  • Keep physical distance of at least 1 metre from others, even if they don’t appear to be sick. Avoid crowds and close contact.
  • Wear a properly fitted mask when physical distancing is not possible and in poorly ventilated settings.
  • Clean your hands frequently with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of used tissues immediately and clean hands regularly.
  • If you develop symptoms or test positive for COVID-19, self-isolate until you recover.

Mpox (Monkeypox) Safety Measures

In light of global health concerns, we are also taking precautions to protect against mpox (monkeypox). The following measures will be in place:

  • Symptoms Awareness: Attendees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the symptoms of mpox, which include fever, headache, muscle aches, and a rash that can look like pimples or blisters.
  • Isolation and Reporting: If you develop symptoms or suspect exposure to mpox before or during the event, please isolate immediately and contact our Health and Safety Team for assistance.

For more information, please refer to WHO dedicated page.

General Health and Safety Protocols

  • Emergency Medical Services: On-site medical personnel will be available to handle any health-related emergencies. In case of a medical emergency, please contact event staff immediately.
  • First Aid Stations: A first aid station will be on level -1 ("Foyer Infirmerie") for any minor injuries or medical concerns.
  • Accessibility: The venue is fully accessible to attendees with disabilities. Should you require any special assistance, please inform us ahead of time or speak with our event staff on-site.
  • Security Measures: To ensure the safety of all attendees, there will be security personnel present at all times. Bags and belongings may be subject to security checks upon entry to the venue.

By following these guidelines, we aim to provide a safe and comfortable experience for everyone attending the World Cancer Congress 2024. Your health and well-being are of utmost importance to us, and we appreciate your understanding and support in adhering to these measures.
