After an inspiring and memorable event in Montréal in August 2012, UICC and its host Cancer Council Australia are pleased to announce that the next UICC World Cancer Congress will take place from 3 - 6 December 2014 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center, Australia.

What is the World Cancer Congress ?

A biennial event, the World Cancer Congress serves as a platform for discourse and advocacy as well as a learning and sharing opportunity for our members and partners around the world.

Convening and engaging cancer control experts and leaders in global health under one roof is essential to find solutions and actions to reduce the impact of cancer on communities around the world.

The 2014 World Cancer Congress theme - Joining Forces: Accelerating Change - will emphasise the impact that can be realised by consistently and energetically applying what we know, rather than waiting for possible future "breakthroughs" to change the landscape. This will be discussed across a variety of economic and cultural contexts.

What experience did the 2012 Congress participants have?

Based on an evaluation amongst the 2012 World Cancer Congress participants, the following  findings stood out:

  • 'Inspiring', 'memorable' and 'unique' are some of the words delegates have used to describe their experience at the 2012 World Cancer Congress in Montréal
  • 98% of the participants said they would recommend the event to a colleague
  • 76% of the participants said the event was very good to outstanding
  • 70% admitted that listening to experts was one of the most important reasons for them to attend the World Cancer Congress. The second most important reason to take part was networking, followed by the opportunity to learn best practices.
