Getting around Hong Kong

Hong Kong boasts one of the safest and most efficient public transport systems in the world, with frequent services and multilingual signage. The following options are all easy to navigate:

Covers all major districts, including stops at the border with Mainland China. Note that luggage size restrictions apply.

🚌  Buses and minibuses:

  • Double-decker buses offer scenic rides.

  • Green minibuses run fixed routes and accept Octopus Cards.

  • Red minibuses are more flexible but require some local knowledge.

🚋  Trams (Hong Kong Island only):
A unique, affordable way to see the city. Board at the rear, pay exact fare (or tap Octopus) when alighting at the front.

🚕  Taxis:
Easy to hail and metered. Most accept only cash, though some support Octopus, credit cards, or mobile payments. Always request a receipt.
