Mrs. Mary Wong-Hemrajani* is the current Chairperson of the Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance (GCBC) and a proud breast cancer survivor. With over 30 years of experience in management and finance, she has served as Chief Executive Officer for several multinational corporations before dedicating herself entirely to volunteer work supporting breast cancer patients. In recognition of her exceptional contributions, Mary was named “Survivor of the Year” and received the “Achievement Award” from Susan G. Komen, USA, in 2017, for her outstanding efforts in promoting education, patient support, and breast cancer screening.
In 2021, she was nominated as a panelist for the World Health Organization (WHO) Breast Cancer Initiative Working Group and invited to join the Global Breast Cancer Council as a council member in 2022. In 2023, she was honoured with the “2023 Humanity Award” by the Hong Kong Red Cross for her unwavering dedication to assisting cancer patients. Educated in Hong Kong, Mary continued her university studies in the USA.
After becoming a volunteer, she completed courses in “Personal Psychology & Mental Health Counselling Skills” at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as advanced training in “Strengthening Capacity of Patients Groups,” “Patient Engagement for Better Cancer Control - Multi-Sectoral Approach,” and “Leadership and Management for Civil Society Organizations in Cancer Control” through the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), Switzerland.
In 2017, she launched the “Pink Angels” service, a complimentary program where “Pink Angel” breast cancer survivors accompany patients throughout their treatment, offering peer support and encouragement. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mary developed a series of online support initiatives for breast cancer patients and introduced the “Pink Academy,” an online workshop focused on raising breast cancer awareness and promoting breast health and positive survivorship. The Pink Angel Services now offer nine free services encompassing comprehensive psychosocial and holistic care for breast cancer patients. In 2025, the service won the “Champion of Good - Gold Award” for Excellence in Mental Health Services by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services.
