UICC Scholarships

UICC will be offering a limited number of scholarships to support participation in the World Cancer Congress.

UICC Scholarships, formally launched in 2024, builds on years’ of experience supporting individuals through travel grants and streamlines access to this support for UICC member organisations. Through the Scholarships, UICC aims to promote equitable access to learning opportunities and enhance diversity ensuring that participants, speakers, programme content and discussions reflect the full breadth of the global cancer community.

UICC will be offering a limited number of scholarships to support participation in the World Cancer Congress.

WHAT DOES A UICC SCHOLARSHIP INCLUDE

 

Scholarship awards include the following financial support:

  • Economy return travel costs to Hong Kong*
  • Living expenses based on published United Nations daily subsistence allowances*
  • Visa costs if required*
  • Congress registration (organised directly by UICC)
  • Hotel accommodation (organised directly by UICC)

*Costs will be reimbursed after the event, up to a specified maximum.

Alongside financial support to attend, UICC will also provide tailored networking and collaboration opportunities for those benefitting from a scholarship to help maximise their participation at the World Cancer Congress.

 

Who can apply

 

To be eligible, participants must be:

  • From a UICC member organisation, with priority given to those based in low and middle-income countries (representatives of patient groups in high income countries may also be eligible for support). 
  • Individuals who have an active role in the event, such as accepted abstract presenters or invited speakers.

UICC is keen to ensure that the Scholarships also help to ensure representation of individuals with lived experience of cancer, or those from underrepresented or marginalised communities.

  • UICC member organisation and country
  • Role in the World Cancer Congress programme i.e. invited speaker, accepted session or abstract submitted.
  • Additional information relevant to your application, in line with the criteria above.

 

Selection process

 

UICC will review and select candidates based on the criteria above, and will notify all applicants by the end of May 2026.
